Mustang Showdown 2025

We are excited to announce that we have found a new location for Mustang Showdown at Nipomo High school for the race in 2025,  and for the first time we’re opening the race to the public!

The Collegiate Race will remain draft-legal, while the brand new Open Category will be non-drafting, making Mustang Showdown the perfect event for both new and experienced triathletes. Collegiate racers will continue with the same wave format as last year, while Open racers will start individually based on their seed times, creating a smooth and fair race experience for all participants.

First held in 2024, this race was designed to be inclusive and accessible for athletes of all skill levels, but was limited to collegiate only racers at this time. Unlike other races, it emphasizes participation and enjoyment in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The low-stakes nature encourages both beginners and seasoned racers to compete without intense pressure, making it an excellent opportunity for newcomers to experience draft-legal racing. Racers are organized into small heats to manage the event flow, and the super sprint format, shorter and more intense, allows participants to race multiple times throughout the morning, enhancing both fun and performance improvement.
